Nowadays, fast food is very popular in china, especially children and young people enjoy eating fast food very much.
Fast food is loved by people for four reasons. First, fast food is very convenient and it saves time. Second, fast food can be eaten in the restaurant or you can take it home. Third, fast food restaurants are very clean and comfortable. Last, the service in the restaurants is very good and the quality of the food is good.
However, we can’t get enough nutrition from fast food and it is not good for our health. So if we don’t have enough time, we can consider eating fast food. But we should eat it once in a while. Children should eat less fast food. We should eat more healthy food.
Dear Zhang Hua，
I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t do well in your last exam. Quite a
number of students feel the same way as you and they tend to lose their confidence and don’t want to study hard any longer. I’m sure you know
that it’s unwise to do so, because you might be left far behind.
I was once in the same situation as yours. Failure is the mother of success. In face of failure, what we need to do is to calm down and make some possible changes or to ask teachers or friends for advice. Anyway, Rome is not built in a day. Only by sticking to studying can we make progress step by step . I truly hope I can be of some help to you.

It is well knownthat Albert Einstein was one of the greatest scientists of all time and he was also a really great person. Here are some interesting things about him.
When Einstein started to work in America, someone asked him what he needed. He said he needed a desk, some paper and a pencil. He also asked for a big waste-paper basket to hold all of his mistakes. This shows that he knew even the cleverest man in the world can only learn by making mistakes.
Einstein regarded time as very important. He never wore socks and he thought putting on socks was a waste of time as people already wore shoes. He also thought it was a waste of time remembering things that could quickly be found in a book. That’s why he never remembered his own phone number, which was in the phone book. He knew what was worth remembering. It is true that if we are going to do great things in our lives, we can not waste our time.
Einstein liked to joke too. Once in an exam a student asked him why all the questions were the same as last year’s. Einstein replied the questions were the same but the answers were different!

Many people all over the world speak English as their second language and it is not too much to say that it has become an international language.
Studying English can make life fun. It enables you to watch American movies, read English books and listen to English songs. Moreover, as English is an international language, you will be able to communicate with foreigners when you are on a trip abroad. Traveling will be more interesting that way.
It is a good idea to make friends with foreigners. In my opinion, it is the best way to improve your English. In addition, it will bring you a lot of fun and expand your view of the world. If you make friends with a native speaker, you can practise your spoken English more often, and then you can communicate with people around the world. You can also become familiar with the customs and habits of different cultures.
There are some people who are afraid to make friends with foreigners, because they are not confident about their English. However, many foreigners do not care about grammar. They will get your key words in the sentence and know the whole meaning. Therefore, it is unnecessary to be afraid; just go ahead.
In brief, English is so useful to us that we should all learn it. 63. Why does the writer think it necessary for us to learn English?

Your teacher hates you? Maybe she does, but maybe she doesn't. Teachers are people. They may like some kids more than others. You may have personalities.
Miss Brown, a teacher thinks most teachers are always too busy teaching to waste time and energy hating you. In fact, your teacher is acting that way to get you to change a behavior they don't like. Your teacher may have the opinion that you are lazy, proud or hard to deal with. Before going any further ——ask yourself these questions: Do you join a really, really big part of class time all the time? Do you tell jokes all the time?
Do you often look out of the window? Do you talk or pass notes?
Are you late a lot? Do you leave early?
Do you forget to do your homework or bring your books?
If your answer is
Go to your teacher's office hours and have a talk. Ask for their honest opinion. Be ready to listen to it.
If they laugh and say ——of course I like you, there is a possibility that you misread (看错) their actions.
If they tell you that you're a creep (品德坏的人) in their class, listen to why.
Now, it's time to bring in your parents to talk to the teacher and the principal (校长). Tell them how you feel.
When all else fails, ask to transfer classes (调班). If the school won't let you transfer, don't give up.
Listen to the teacher in class and study hard.
Remember, you're in class to learn things, not to be the teacher's best friend.

If you want to deal with the association (交往) between boys and girls properly, here are some advice for you to follow.
1) Keep a normal and healthy state of mind. Our schools and classes are made up of boys and girls. It is very natural for the boys and girls to contact each other and build up the friendship with the students of the other sex. Generally speaking, we should broaden the circle of the association. We should make as many friends as possible. We should have more friends of the opposite sex instead of one or two. We should contact the students in public instead of in secret.
2) Contact students of opposite sex warmly, generously and sincerely. Don‟t be too nervous or too shy in contact with a person of the opposite sex. In that case it is very difficult for you to make a lot of friends, as no one likes a person who is too shy to say a word. If you are too shy a person, you can also find a way out. First of all, you can contact the students with the same interest and hobby with you. As both of you have much in common, you may have much to talk about. If you keep doing like that, little by little, you will gladly find you are also as free to express yourself as others.
3) Don't fall into the ditch (泥潭) of early love. The boys and girls at adolescence(青春期)are rich in feelings and full of imagination. They are easy to regard the friendship as a sign of love, and fall in love with other at an early age. In my opinion, boys and girls at middle school are too young and too tender to shoulder the heavy duty of love. Early love is a green apple that can't be eaten. An apple won't taste sweet until it is fully ripe. Do keep out of early love.
54 The underlined word “broaden” in the passage means ________.
A. close down B. make small C. make broad D. make known
55. We should contact (交往)the student of the opposite sex in the following ways EXCEPT ________.

C. old enough to fall in love D. easy to regard the friendship as a sign of love 57. The best title of the passage is ________. A. The early love
B. Some advice on how to associate between boys and girls
C. The contact does good not only to the boys but also to the girls D. How to talk with a girl
If you do not use your arms or your legs for some time, they become weak; when you start using them again, they slowly become strong again. Everybody knows that. Yet many people do not seem to know that memory works in the same way.
When someone says that he has a good memory, he really means that he keeps his memory in practice by using it. When someone else says that his memory is poor, he really means that he does not give it enough chance to become strong.
If a friend says that his arms and legs are weak, we know that it is his fault. But if he tells us that he has a poor memory, many of us think that his parents are to blame(责备), and few of us know that it is just his own fault.
Have you ever found that some people can't read or write but they have better memories? This is because they cannot read or write and they have to remember things; they cannot write them down in a little notebook. They have to remember days, names, songs and stories; so their memory is the whole time being exercised.
So if you want to have a good memory, learn from the people: practice remembering. 58. If you do not use your arms or legs for some time, what will happen ? (不超过5个单词)

When talking about colds, maybe some people say it is very common. It is so embarrassing when they forget to take a handkerchief or tissue along with them.
Want to stay away from colds? Put on a happy face.
Compared to unhappy people, those who are cheerful and relaxed are less likely to suffer from colds, according to a new study. It’s possible that being happy helps the body fight illnesses, say the researchers from New York University.
“It seems that positive(积极的) feelings may reduce (减少)the danger of illness,” said the study’s chief researcher Sheldon Cohen.
In an earlier study, Cohen found that people who were cheerful and lively caught coughs and colds less often. People were also less likely to tell their doctors that they felt ill.
In this study, Cohen has interviewed 193 adults every day for two weeks. During the interviews, the people told researchers that they were given colds by doctors and had to stay alone in a room for six days.
The results showed that everyone in the study was equally(相等地) likely to get ill. But for people who said they felt happy during the research period, their illness are less serious and lasted for a shorter time.
Cohen believes that when people experience positive feelings, their body may produce a chemical that helps fight illness and disease. So if you are worried about your health, look on the

Of course not! You don't have to suffer needlessly. Your destiny depends on you, not on any other outer factors.

She wakes up in the morning, goes to work, comes back home, relaxes, chats with people, watches TV, then goes to sleep. Next day, the same things cycle follows.

Typhoon（台风）in the Northern part of the world have girls’ names. Sometimes they have very beautiful names. Rose is a pretty name but there was nothing pretty about Typhoon Rose. It was the worst typhoon to hit Hong Kong in ten years. It began to rain in the morning of Monday, August 16th, 1971. At ten o’clock in the morning, Typhoon Rose was still 130 miles away but already the wind was blowing people’s umbrella away. The wind became stronger and stronger. The typhoon shelters （避风港）were soon full of boats. Ships that were too big to go inside the shelters put down more anchors（锚）. Some very big ships went out to sea. It is safer for a big ship to be at sea in a typhoon because it cannot be blown onto rocks. Kai Tak Airport closed. No planes were able to take off or land. At 9:00 in the evening, all the lights went out.
No one slept well that night. It is difficult to sleep in such bad weather.
In Typhoon Rose, more than one hundred people died. 229 people were hurt and 66 of these had to go to hospital. 1, 500 lost their homes. The people of Hong Kong would not quickly forget Typhoon Rose!

An argument is going on in many schools. It concerns what languages are spoken in the classroom. Some people argue that because this is America, only English should be spoken in schools. Others argue that America is a melting pot. And if students are able to speak more than one language, that should be accepted and celebrated in class.
We asked the students in New York City what they are thinking. Here is what they said.
Joan: I think people should learn English in school, but they shouldn’t be required to speak only English. It should be up to students and teachers what they speak and learn. For people just learning English, it can be easier if they’re allowed to speak their native language in class too.
Mary: Even though you may want to speak your native language, you should learn and speak only
English in school. It is the most important and popular language in the world. If you live here, you should speak English.
Alice: I think if English is introduced to people slowly, they will want to speak it more. If they are in this country, they will want to learn English. But if you tell them it is the only language they can speak in school, it will make them angry and disappointed.
Susan: How can people expect to communicate in this country if they can’t speak English? School is the best place to start. I think if you speak and write only English in school, you will learn it quicker Join a sports team. As long as you enjoy the sport and support your teammates, joining a local team with a laid-back（悠然自得的）attitude could be a great way to make new friends.

If you want to make friends and form strong, lasting friendships, consider these suggestions.
To make friends, you first need to put yourself out there somehow. Friends seldom come knocking on your door while you sit at home watching TV.
Join a club with people who have common interests. You don’t necessarily have to have a lot of common interests with people in order to make friends with them. In fact, some of the most rewarding friendships are between two people who don’t have much in common at all, but if you have something in common with people, it can make it a lot easier to start a conversation and plan activities together.
Use the web but get out! You can join any group or just start your own. If you don’t know of a specific topic, try searching for just a location. It’s a great way to meet new local people! To make friends, besides spending more time around people, you also need to talk to people. ( )48. Who is the passage written mainly for?
